Governor Newsom announces appointments to various state boards

Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a series of appointments and reappointments to various boards across California. Tala Khalaf, from San Carlos, joins the Physical Therapy Board of California. She has been a Senior Physical Therapist at Stanford Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Clinic since 2008 and is involved in multiple roles within Stanford Health Care.

Donna DeBerry, based in San Diego, has been appointed to the 22nd District Agricultural Association San Diego County Fair Board. DeBerry has held several leadership positions related to diversity and inclusion across different organizations.

Kartikeya “KK” Jha from Fresno continues his service on the State Board of Pharmacy, where he has been since 2022. He is currently District Director of Operations at Omnicare, a CVS Health Company.

Nicholas Hardeman from Sacramento joins the California Housing and Finance Agency Board of Directors. His previous experience includes serving as Chief of Staff to Senate President pro Tempore Emeritus Toni G. Atkins.

Jason Newell from Sacramento remains on the State Board of Pharmacy. He co-founded System2Solutions and was previously involved with the Leveraging Equal Access Program.

Nicole Thibeau from Los Angeles continues her role on the State Board of Pharmacy, where she has served since 2021. She is currently Director of Pharmacy Services at the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Daniel Lee from South Sacramento remains with the Podiatric Medical Board of California. He is a Foot and Ankle Surgeon for The Permanente Medical Group and holds academic positions at several universities.

Maria Preciosa Solacito from Palmdale stays with the California Veterinary Medical Board. She owns a practice in Antelope Valley and previously worked for Los Angeles County's Department of Animal Care and Control.

Cheryl Williams from San Diego continues her role on the Respiratory Care Board. Her background includes work as an Insurance Consultant for American Family Life Assurance Company.

Carel Mountain from Fair Oaks remains on the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. She is an Assistant Professor at California State University, Sacramento.

Gloria Gregoria Guzman from Bakersfield continues her service on the same board as Mountain, having worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Kaiser Permanente since 1989.

Aleta Carpenter from Redding stays with the same board where she has served since 2016. Her professional history includes consulting work with ACE Communications.

Seyron Foo from Los Angeles remains on the Board of Psychology, bringing experience as Senior Program Officer at Conrad N. Hilton Foundation among other roles in public policy.

Mary Harb Sheets from San Diego also continues her service on this board while maintaining her private practice as a Clinical Psychologist since 1994.

All these positions do not require Senate confirmation except for Nicholas Hardeman's appointment which does require it.
