Governor Brian P. Kemp has announced that Mercedes-Benz will establish its North American headquarters in Atlanta by consolidating key corporate functions. The company plans to relocate up to 500 jobs to its existing facility, "1MB," in Fulton County and invest in a new Research & Development (R&D) hub nearby.

"Georgia continues to lead the way in the future of mobility and technical innovation, attracting world-class companies like Mercedes-Benz that are driving the automotive industry forward," said Governor Kemp. He expressed enthusiasm about Mercedes-Benz expanding its presence in Georgia.

Mercedes-Benz's "1MB" facility, which opened in Sandy Springs in 2018, currently supports approximately 800 jobs. Jason Hoff, CEO of Mercedes-Benz North America, stated: "We thank the State of Georgia for its support... Bringing our teams closer together will enable us to be more agile, increase speed to market, and ensure the best customer experience."

The Sandy Springs location will house sales teams as well as financial services and corporate functions. The R&D hub is expected to be completed by August 2026.

Mayor Rusty Paul of Sandy Springs welcomed the expansion: "Since establishing their headquarters here in 2018, they have been outstanding corporate partners... This expansion represents a wonderful opportunity and a significant milestone for our continued development."

Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robb Pitts remarked on the investment's significance: "Having a globally recognized brand like Mercedes-Benz reaffirm its commitment... proves Fulton County continues to be a destination for corporate solutions."

Katie Kirkpatrick, President & CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, highlighted the economic impact: "This expansion is a testament to both Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to excellence and metro Atlanta's strength as a hub for innovation and talent."

The Georgia Department of Economic Development's Global Commerce team collaborated with local entities on this project. Commissioner Pat Wilson noted: "Their continued growth and community involvement are a prime example of why we recruit industry leaders such as Mercedes-Benz to Georgia."

Mercedes-Benz AG is part of the larger Mercedes-Benz Group AG with around 175,000 employees worldwide. The company focuses on developing passenger cars and vans while aspiring to lead in electric mobility and vehicle software.
