Karen Read has sold her home in Mansfield, Massachusetts, as she prepares for a new trial concerning the death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe. The four-bedroom Colonial house was listed in July for $849,000 and sold for $810,000 to a married couple.

Real estate agent Richard Rocci commented on the sale: “Ms. Read has not been living in Mansfield since last year and now wishes for another family to enjoy the property she spent many years enhancing.”

The property listing described it as a "meticulously maintained colonial located on a scenic country road" with features including hardwood floors and a "beautiful sun-drenched kitchen with granite counters." It was marketed as "perfect for families."

Read is facing charges related to O'Keefe's death after being accused of hitting him with her SUV while intoxicated. Her first trial ended in a mistrial earlier this year. She maintains that she was framed and claims O’Keefe’s body was placed outside after he was fatally beaten.

Financial records indicate that Read took out two $200,000 mortgages on the property in September and had previously secured a mortgage of $488,000 in 2022. She revealed to Vanity Fair that legal fees have left her millions of dollars in debt.

In addition to the criminal case, Read is dealing with a wrongful death lawsuit filed by O'Keefe's family. A court filing noted by the Boston Herald suggests they believe she intends to leave Massachusetts.

Her second trial is scheduled for January.
