U.S. Treasury Secretary meets with Israeli Minister to discuss ties and regional agreements

Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Israeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich in Washington on October 20, 2025. The meeting focused on reinforcing the relationship between the United States and Israel.

During their discussion, Secretary Bessent urged Minister Smotrich to support President Trump’s peace agreement. “Secretary Bessent encouraged Minister Smotrich to fully embrace President Trump’s landmark peace deal and thanked the minister for his leadership in Israel,” according to a statement released after the meeting. The Secretary also highlighted the return of hostages as a significant event and mentioned the opportunity for further growth in regional agreements through the Abraham Accords.

The meeting is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to maintain close cooperation between the two countries.
