Last week, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with Rachel Reeves, the United Kingdom’s Chancellor to the Exchequer, in Washington. The meeting focused on strengthening coordinated efforts among G7 nations to increase pressure on Russia. According to the Treasury Department, Bessent emphasized the Administration’s expectation that Europe take a leading role in these efforts.

The officials also discussed China’s global rare earth export controls and stressed the importance of unified responses and diversified supply chains. Both leaders noted the significance of President Trump’s recent state visit to the UK.
