Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John K. Hurley is traveling to Europe and the Middle East to strengthen cooperation with partners on sanctions enforcement against Iran and efforts to limit terrorist groups’ access to international financial systems.
The trip will include stops in Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Türkiye, and Lebanon. According to the Treasury Department, this visit aims to work with regional partners on implementing President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign targeting Iran, focusing on enforcing United Nations sanctions that were reimposed due to Iran’s non-compliance with international agreements.
“President Trump has made clear that Iran’s destabilizing and terrorist activities must be met with sustained and coordinated pressure,” said Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John K. Hurley. “I look forward to meeting with our partners to coordinate our efforts to deny Tehran and its proxies the financial access they rely on to evade international sanctions, fund violence, and undermine stability in the region.”
In Israel, discussions will focus on collaborative measures related to the U.S. campaign against Iran’s influence in the region. In the UAE, Hurley plans to emphasize continued cooperation in combating money laundering and terrorism financing as part of a broader economic relationship between both countries.
Meetings in Türkiye will address joint actions aimed at curbing regional malign influences as well as preventing evasion of sanctions through strengthened enforcement of illicit finance controls.
Hurley’s itinerary also includes meetings in Lebanon, though specific details about those engagements were not disclosed.
