A recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court has drawn criticism from California Governor Gavin Newsom. The court, in a 6-3 ruling, granted federal immigration authorities the ability to conduct detentions without suspicion within California.

Governor Newsom responded with a statement expressing strong opposition to the ruling.

The Supreme Court’s decision has sparked concern among state officials and advocacy groups about its potential impact on immigrant communities and broader civil rights in Southern California.
