The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) has expressed approval following the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry's bipartisan advancement of the Fix Our Forests Act (S. 1462). The association highlighted the significance of this legislative step in addressing wildfire risks and related insurance issues for communities vulnerable to fires.
Sam Whitfield, APCIA’s senior vice president of federal government relations and political management, stated, “APCIA commends the Senate Agriculture Committee for advancing the Fix Our Forests Act. This is a critical step toward addressing the nation’s escalating wildfire crisis and the growing insurance challenges facing communities in fire-prone regions. We urge the full Senate to swiftly consider and pass the Fix Our Forests Act, ensuring that communities across the country are better equipped to prevent, respond to, and recover from devastating fires.”
APCIA is joined by other organizations in supporting S. 1462. The group, along with other insurance trade associations, sent a letter backing the legislation to both the committee and Senate leaders Thune and Schumer.
APCIA serves as a national trade association representing home, auto, and business insurers. Its mission includes promoting private competition for consumer and insurer benefit. The association’s members span various sizes and structures, working to protect individuals and businesses throughout the United States and internationally.
