Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko in Washington on October 14, 2025. During the meeting, Secretary Bessent expressed continued U.S. support for Ukraine's sovereignty and underlined the U.S. commitment to achieving a lasting peace.
Bessent thanked Svyrydenko for her ongoing backing of the U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund. He highlighted the importance of regular engagement between the two countries as part of their partnership.
Bessent also restated the United States' intention to work closely with G7 nations to increase pressure on Russia. He emphasized, "the need for European allies to ratchet up their pressure campaign not only against Russia, but also against any country that finances the Russian war machine through purchases of Russian oil."
