A 25-year-old woman, Aries Jordon, has been arrested in connection with a fire at Prayer City Eagles Chapel International Ministries in Austell, Georgia. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM on September 29 when firefighters responded to flames coming through the roof of the church building.
Fire crews were able to control and extinguish the blaze. Following the response, investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office joined the Austell Fire Department to examine the scene and interview witnesses.
Based on evidence collected during their investigation, authorities identified Ms. Jordon as a person of interest. Reports indicate that she had previous interactions with church leadership during a brief period of attendance. Investigators located her at an apartment complex in Mableton, Georgia.
Ms. Jordon faces several charges including Arson in the First Degree, Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property, Terroristic Threats, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime, and Criminal Trespass.
The investigation is ongoing and involves cooperation between multiple agencies: "This investigation was conducted in partnership with the Austell Fire Department, Austell Police Department, and Cobb County Police Department." This information was announced by Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King.
