Governor Brian P. Kemp has designated September as Workforce Development Month in Georgia, highlighting the importance of education, training, and talent development for maintaining the state's competitiveness and supporting economic growth. In conjunction with this announcement, Governor Kemp revealed that the third annual Governor’s Workforce Summit will take place from October 20 to 21 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

“Again and again, job creators cite Georgia's workforce as a major reason why they choose to invest, operate, and grow in our state,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “To ensure our students are ready to fill the unprecedented levels of new opportunities coming our way thanks to Georgia's record-breaking economic development wins, we're again bringing together public and private sector leaders to better align our workforce pipeline. Together, we'll build on the milestone successes of prior years, like Georgia MATCH and strengthened high demand career positioning.”

Georgia has introduced several programs aimed at strengthening its workforce under Governor Kemp’s leadership. These include the Georgia MATCH program, which connects students directly with postsecondary education and career options; the Unified High Demand Career Initiative; and expanded apprenticeships focused on specific sectors. These initiatives have contributed to business growth and investment in the state.

The Top State for Talent initiative is a cross-agency effort supported by the Georgia General Assembly. It seeks to prepare residents for current jobs as well as future careers by aligning educational institutions—from high schools to universities—with credentialing programs so that graduates are equipped with practical opportunities beyond diplomas.

The annual Governor’s Workforce Summit serves as a key event for sharing workforce strategies and success stories from across Georgia. It brings together educators, industry leaders, government officials, and community partners to discuss ways to meet employer needs while supporting job seekers throughout the state.

Registration for the 2025 Governor’s Workforce Summit is now open. Additional information can be found at the Top State for Talent website: https://topstatefortalent.georgia.gov/.
