The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will open a new office, named “Oxnard Express,” at 137 N. Ventura Road in Port Hueneme on September 2. The location is intended to serve customers in Ventura County and is named for its proximity to the City of Oxnard.
The new office will provide limited services, such as processing applications for original and replacement ID cards, driver’s license replacements with changes, knowledge test retests, commercial driver’s license medical updates or submissions, duplicate vehicle titles, partial year registration for commercial vehicles, and issuing disabled person parking placards. However, it will not process original driver’s license applications or conduct behind-the-wheel drive tests; those services are available only at full-service field offices.
Appointments will not be offered at the Oxnard Express office. Customers will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. The office will operate cashless and accept only credit and debit card payments.
Office hours are set from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; on Wednesdays the office opens at 9 a.m.
According to the DMV, many services can be completed online without visiting an office. Customers are encouraged to use online options through dmv.ca.gov for tasks such as eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. The DMV also provides a Service Advisor tool on its website to help users determine how best to complete their transactions.

To receive paperless renewal notices for vehicle registration or driver’s licenses, individuals need to create or sign into an account at dmv.ca.gov and opt in for electronic notifications.
