Governor Gavin Newsom is set to sign the Election Rigging Response Act on August 21, 2025, in Sacramento. The legislation aims to give voters a way to respond to what state leaders describe as federal overreach. Senate Pro Tempore Mike McGuire, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, and other legislative leaders will join Newsom for the signing.
The event will take place immediately after the bill’s passage and will be livestreamed on the Governor’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram pages. TV stations can also access the event through LiveU Matrix under “California Governor.” Only credentialed media who RSVP will be allowed to attend in person; location details are provided upon confirmation.
“This in-person press event will be open to credentialed media only. Media interested in attending must RSVP by clicking here. Location information will be provided upon RSVP confirmation,” according to the Governor’s office.
The Election Rigging Response Act is presented as a measure that empowers California voters amid concerns about actions at the federal level.
