The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced that its Capitola office, located at 4200 Capitola Road, will reopen to the public on Monday, August 25, at 8 a.m. The office had been closed since June 13 to allow for painting and replacement of flooring and furniture.

According to the DMV, many services are now available online and do not require an in-person visit. Customers are encouraged to use the DMV’s digital options for tasks such as driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Simple self-service transactions that were once offered in offices can now be completed through the DMV website.

The department also recommends using the Service Advisor tool on its website to help customers determine how best to complete their DMV business: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/. To receive paperless renewal notices for vehicle registration or driver’s licenses, individuals need to create a secure online account and opt in through the DMV site.

“The Capitola office will reopen to the public on August 25. Most customers can save a trip to the office and do their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.”

The reopening is part of ongoing efforts by the DMV to expand digital access and streamline services for Californians.
