The Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner has announced a public hearing to discuss proposed amendments to its Rules and Regulations. The hearing is scheduled for September 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Hearing Room of the Office of Commissioner of Insurance, located on the ninth floor of the West Tower, Floyd Building, Two Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Atlanta.
The proposed changes focus on Rule 120-3-3-.04 concerning State Minimum Fire Safety Standards. Amendments include clarifying which edition of NFPA 101 applies, adding a new exemption provision for New Educational Occupancies not exceeding 12,000 square feet, removing outdated language related to the 2024 edition of NFPA 101, and making syntax adjustments.
Written comments regarding these proposals can be submitted to Jeremy Betts at the Administrative Procedure Division by mail at the address provided or by calling (404) 651-6501. All written comments must be received by September 3rd, 2025.
Oral comments may also be presented during the public hearing. Each participant will have up to five minutes to speak in order to ensure all interested individuals have an opportunity to be heard. Those with physical impairments who require assistance are encouraged to contact the Administrative Procedure Division with any questions or requests for support.
"Based upon full consideration of all written and oral comments regarding the above matters, the Commissioner of Insurance may reject or adopt the proposed rules or may make changes to the proposed rules which may require another rulemaking hearing," according to information from the Office.
All proposals are available for public review at the Administrative Procedure Division office in Atlanta.
