Two structure fires in Gordon County are under investigation as suspected arsons, according to an announcement from Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King.

The first fire occurred on May 29, 2025, at a vacant home on Porch Loop Street in Calhoun. Gordon County firefighters responded around 4:30 a.m. Surveillance footage reportedly shows two people entering the house and leaving shortly before it caught fire.

A second incident took place on July 21, 2025, at a residence on Red Bud Rd in Calhoun. Video evidence indicates that a masked person disabled the home's security cameras prior to the blaze. Firefighters arrived at about 1:52 a.m., and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation.

“We are thankful that no injuries or fatalities occurred in either of these cases,” said Commissioner King. “Now, we need the public’s help to identify those responsible. A reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the individuals involved. Callers may remain anonymous.”

Authorities encourage anyone with information about these incidents to contact the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. The office is collaborating with both Gordon County Fire Rescue and the Gordon County Sheriff’s office during this ongoing investigation.
