Governor Kemp appoints Benjamin A. Land to Georgia Supreme Court

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced the appointment of The Honorable Benjamin A. Land to the Supreme Court of Georgia, filling the vacancy left by the retirement of The Honorable Michael P. Boggs.

"After careful consideration of multiple accomplished and noteworthy candidates, I'm proud to announce Ben Land as my appointment to serve on the Georgia Supreme Court," said Governor Brian Kemp. "Judge Land has earned the respect of his peers and hardworking Georgians through his commitment to fairness and impartiality, his strong work ethic, and his integrity. His extensive experience as a former litigator and judge will make him a valuable addition to the Supreme Court as he continues his service to the people of our state."

Judge Benjamin A. Land has been serving on the Georgia Court of Appeals since July 20, 2022, after being appointed by Governor Kemp. He secured a full six-year term in 2024 through statewide election. Before joining the appellate court, Judge Land served on the Superior Court for the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit, appointed by then-Governor Nathan Deal in February 2018.

Before his judicial appointments, Judge Land practiced law privately in Columbus for nearly 26 years with a focus on complex civil litigation. He achieved several record-setting verdicts and was involved in defending nationwide class action lawsuits. Judge Land's career is marked by dedication to both his profession and community involvement. He received recognition from the State Bar of Georgia with the William B. Spann, Jr. Award for Pro Bono Advocacy.

Judge Land's educational background includes graduating with Highest Honors from the University of Georgia where he also completed his law degree, ranking second in his class.
