Ricardo Trejo-Martinez and Hector Beltran-Ledesma, both identified as illegal aliens from Mexico, face charges for assaulting or resisting federal deportation officers in separate incidents. Beltran-Ledesma is also charged with illegally re-entering the United States after a previous deportation.

U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg stated, “Interference with law enforcement and attacks on officers are unjustifiable,” emphasizing the office's zero-tolerance policy towards such actions.

Steven N. Schrank, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Georgia and Alabama, added, “Violence and physical resistance against our men and women of law enforcement who place themselves at risk to enhance public safety will never be tolerated.”

The incidents occurred on May 20 and June 21, 2025. Trejo-Martinez allegedly refused to comply during a vehicle stop in Commerce, Georgia, shoving an officer into traffic. In Roswell, Georgia, Beltran-Ledesma reportedly attempted to flee from officers and resisted arrest.

The public is reminded that these charges are allegations; the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

These cases fall under Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime.

Investigations are conducted by the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
