The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced a temporary closure of its Fall River Mills office for painting and general maintenance. The office, located at 43467 Highway 299E, will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, and is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1.
During the renovation period, DMV customers can visit alternative offices in the surrounding areas. These include the Mount Shasta office at 154 Morgan Way, which is open only on Tuesdays and Thursdays; the Redding office at 2135 Civic Center Drive; the Alturas office at 903 West C St.; and the Susanville office at 2615 Main St., which operates only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The DMV emphasizes that many services do not require an in-person visit and encourages customers to utilize online resources available at dmv.ca.gov. Most DMV tasks can be completed digitally through self-service transactions that are no longer offered in physical offices. Customers can renew driver's licenses and vehicle registrations online and use the Service Advisor tool on the DMV website to explore their options for completing various DMV tasks.
For those interested in paperless notices for vehicle registration and driver's license renewals, opting in requires creating a secure online account on the DMV website.
