State Sen. Singer on reforms to address rising insurance costs: 'Absolutely'

Robert W. Singer, the state senator for New Jersey District 30, expressed his support for reforms aimed at addressing rising insurance costs. He cited his extensive experience in the Senate and familiarity with past insurance issues as a basis for his stance.

"I was, being the dean of the Senate," said W. Singer, New Jersey State Senator. "I've been there through the angst we had with car insurance."

In 2025, the average cost of full-coverage car insurance in New Jersey reached $2,957 annually, approximately 10% higher than the national average. According to Bankrate, factors contributing to these elevated costs include high population density, increased repair expenses, and a higher incidence of claims. These statistics highlight the financial burden faced by New Jersey drivers and underscore the need for legislative attention.

Employer-sponsored health insurance premiums have also seen significant increases. The Kaiser Family Foundation's 2024 Employer Health Benefits Survey reports that annual premiums for family coverage reached $25,572, marking a 7% rise from the previous year. On average, workers contributed $6,296 toward these premiums. This situation emphasizes the growing financial strain on employees and underscores the importance of policy interventions to control healthcare costs.

Singer currently serves as the Deputy Republican Leader and is the senior ranking member of the Senate Health, Human Services, and Senior Citizens Committee. Throughout his tenure, he has been actively involved in healthcare policy and has advocated for reforms to address the state's healthcare challenges.
