Governor Gavin Newsom has announced his new role as Co-Chair of the America Is All In coalition, a group of leaders from various sectors across all 50 U.S. states committed to reducing emissions and combating climate change. The coalition's goals include cutting emissions by half by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Newsom will join Managing Co-Chair Gina McCarthy, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb in leading the initiative. "With the all-out assault we’re now facing on low-carbon, green growth from the federal level, it’s the subnational leaders – those of us leading our states and cities – who have to step up," said Newsom. He emphasized California's commitment to reducing pollution and advancing clean industries.

America Is All In aims to engage a wide range of sectors including cities, states, tribal nations, businesses, schools, and cultural institutions to develop a comprehensive national climate strategy. It also seeks to enhance non-federal climate action through direct implementation and advocacy.

Gina McCarthy expressed her enthusiasm for Newsom's involvement: "As governor of the fifth largest economy in the world and a climate leader for decades, I could not be more thrilled to have Governor Newsom... showing America and the world that climate action doesn’t just cut greenhouse gases; it creates jobs."
