Governor Newsom appoints 10 new superior court judges across California

Governor Gavin Newsom has announced the appointment of ten new Superior Court Judges across California. These appointments include two judges in Alameda County, three in Los Angeles County, and one each in Merced, Orange, San Bernardino, and San Francisco Counties.

In Alameda County, Doris Ng has been appointed following her role as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Labor since 2023. Jonathan Wolff will also serve as a Judge in Alameda County; he previously held the position of Chief Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Law Division at the California Attorney General’s Office.

Los Angeles County will see William Shin taking on a judgeship after serving as Deputy Attorney General at the California Attorney General’s Office. Kimberly Dotson, formerly a Commissioner at the Los Angeles Superior Court, and Faye Chen Barnouw from the Federal Trade Commission have also been appointed to judgeships in Los Angeles County.

Chamandeep Johal will serve as a Judge in Merced County after working as a Commissioner at Mariposa County Superior Court. Jennifer McCartney is appointed to Orange County Superior Court from her position as Firm Director at the Children’s Law Center of California.

San Bernardino County welcomes Cecilia Joo and Dina Amani to its Superior Court. Joo has been serving as a Commissioner there since 2023 while Amani held similar roles before this appointment.

Julia Cervantes is appointed to San Francisco's bench after serving as Managing Attorney at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.

Each appointee will receive an annual compensation of $244,727 for their roles on the bench.
