Governor Gavin Newsom has announced several new appointments to key state boards and councils.
Janessa Goldbeck from San Diego has been appointed to the California Veterans Board. Goldbeck, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Vet Voice Foundation since 2022, previously served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps from 2012 to 2019. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Public Leadership from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Northwestern University. Her appointment requires Senate confirmation, with compensation set at $100 per diem.
Courtney Welch, based in Emeryville, will join the California Housing Partnership Corporation. Welch is currently the Director of External Affairs at the California Housing Defense Fund and has served as a City Councilmember for Emeryville since 2021. Her previous roles include Director of Planning and Investigation at the California Housing Defense Fund and Director of Policy and Communications at Bay Area Community Land Trust. The position requires Senate confirmation but does not offer compensation.
Indira Cameron-Banks from Los Angeles has been appointed to the Civil Rights Council. A founding partner at Cameron Banks Law, Cameron-Banks held various positions at the United States Attorneys’ Office for the Central District of California until 2020. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Boston University. This appointment also requires Senate confirmation with compensation at $100 per diem.
Ricardo Sanchez from Hollister joins the California State Board of Pharmacy. He has been an Investigator with the California Department of Motor Vehicles since 1989 and serves as Chief Financial Officer for the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association. His role on this board does not require Senate confirmation but includes a $100 per diem compensation.
All appointees are registered Democrats.
