The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced a temporary closure of its Petaluma office for renovations. The office, located at 715 Southpoint Blvd., Suite J, will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 21, and is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 10.

During the renovation period, DMV customers are advised to visit nearby offices in Santa Rosa, Novato, Corte Madera, or Napa. The Santa Rosa office is situated at 2570 Corby Ave., approximately 13 miles from Petaluma. The Novato location can be found at 936 7th St., Suite A, about 15 miles away. Both the Corte Madera and Napa offices are around 27 miles from Petaluma.

The DMV encourages customers to utilize online services for most transactions that do not require an in-person visit. "Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit," stated the department's announcement. Customers can complete various transactions online, including driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals.

Additionally, individuals interested in receiving paperless renewal notices can opt-in by creating a secure online account and registering on the DMV website.
