U.S. Representative John Garamendi has issued a statement in response to President Donald Trump's comments following the aviation crash at Ronald Reagan International Airport. The incident resulted in the loss of 67 lives.
Rep. Garamendi expressed his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, criticizing President Trump for attributing the accident to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. He described this as "shameful and irresponsible."
Garamendi emphasized that instead of politicizing the event, there should be a focus on investigation and prevention. "I am deeply concerned that the President’s response had no sympathy for the victims, no assurances to the American people of a thorough investigation," he stated.
He assured that relevant agencies like the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting an impartial investigation to prevent future occurrences.
