Georgia Access, the state's health insurance marketplace, has concluded its 2025 Open Enrollment period with over 1.5 million consumers enrolled for Plan Year 2025. This includes 225,000 new enrollees who were not previously covered through Healthcare.gov. The announcement was made by Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King.
“We are extremely proud of the resounding success of this year’s Open Enrollment. Most importantly, we are thrilled to be helping more Georgians than ever before secure affordable health coverage,” said Commissioner King. He emphasized that the goal for OE 2025 was to reduce the number of uninsured Georgians by partnering with private sector entities and simplifying the enrollment process.
Georgia Access is notable as it is the first State-based Exchange to offer multiple ways for consumers to enroll in health coverage. This includes a network of certified agents and Enhanced Direct Enrollment (EDE) partners such as web brokers and insurance companies. During this enrollment period, over 17,300 licensed agents participated, assisting nearly 80% of Georgia consumers.
“The results of our extensive preparation to execute a successful Open Enrollment and provide free and easy access for uninsured Georgians to enroll in health coverage are impressive,” said Georgia Access Executive Director Cheryl Gardner. She acknowledged the contributions of partners and agents while committing to improving platforms and expanding innovation.
Consumers had options from ten health insurance companies and eight dental insurance companies during OE2025, with most counties offering three or more choices. The Georgia Access Contact Center handled over 300,000 calls with a high resolution rate on first contact.
The marketplace also engaged in outreach efforts across the state by participating in over 90 events including town halls and festivals.
Currently, Georgia Access is in a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). For more information about quality health coverage or eligibility details, individuals can visit their website or contact their call center during business hours.
