Average car insurance rates in the United States showed varied trends in November, according to Insurify data. As of December 1, the national average for full-coverage car insurance was $193 per month, a slight decrease from November's average. Conversely, the national liability average increased by $1 to reach $105 per month.

The overall decline in full-coverage rates can be attributed to small decreases across several states. In contrast, a few states experienced notable increases in liability rates, affecting the national average.

Location plays a significant role in determining insurance rates due to factors such as weather conditions, traffic congestion, and crime rates. For instance, Rhode Island witnessed a significant drop in full-coverage rates from $233 in October to $203 in November. On the other hand, Washington D.C. saw its monthly liability-only rate rise from $109 in October to $121 in November.

New York drivers faced the highest overall average car insurance costs at $323 per month in November. Maryland had the highest full-coverage rates at an average of $335 per month. In contrast, North Carolina reported the lowest overall average costs at $81 per month.

Several factors influence car insurance rates including driving history, age, gender, location, credit history, vehicle type and usage, safety features of vehicles, coverage type and limits, and deductibles.

To save on car insurance costs, drivers are advised to drive safely and avoid risky behaviors that could lead to claims. They should also look for discounts offered by insurers and consider increasing their deductibles or adjusting coverages appropriately. Comparison shopping is recommended when policies come up for renewal.

Insurify's analysis involved over 97 million rate applications from their database across all 50 states and Washington D.C., considering drivers aged between 20 and 70 with clean records and good credit scores.
