Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order to aid response and recovery efforts for the Mountain Fire in Ventura County. The order aims to streamline processes by expediting debris removal, authorizing state agencies to procure resources quickly, and allowing the mobilization of the California National Guard. It also suspends certain legal requirements to ensure a rapid response, including contracting laws, waiting periods for unemployment benefits, and fees for replacing lost documents. Additionally, it provides waivers for schools and health facilities affected by the fire.

"This executive order empowers the state to continue our swift action, cut through red tape, and mobilize essential resources to aid communities impacted by the Mountain Fire. Our top priority is protecting the health, safety, and well-being of all those affected and expediting the road to recovery," stated Governor Gavin Newsom.

The Governor declared a state of emergency in Ventura County due to the Mountain Fire and visited the Incident Command Post where he met with first responders. He also surveyed firefighting efforts in the area. Earlier this week, Newsom requested federal assistance which resulted in FEMA approving a Fire Management Assistance Grant to bolster firefighting efforts at both state and local levels.
