An apartment fire in Roswell, Georgia, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and two dogs. The incident occurred on October 19 at 3:48 AM at the Champions Green Apartment Complex. Firefighters arrived to find significant smoke emanating from a three-story building.

The Roswell Fire Department initiated a search and rescue operation, locating two victims inside the affected apartment. Despite efforts to save them, both victims were pronounced dead at a local hospital. The fire also affected two neighboring units, leading to the displacement of six residents who received assistance from the Red Cross. Two dogs were found deceased within the apartment.

Investigations by the Roswell Fire Department, Roswell Police Department, and Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office suggest that unattended cooking caused the accidental fire. Smoke alarms were confirmed to be present and functional during the incident.

Roswell Fire Chief Joe Pennino stated, “Our deepest sympathies are with the families affected by this devastating loss.” He emphasized taking precautions while cooking to prevent such tragedies.

John F. King, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, expressed condolences: “Our hearts go out to the families, friends, and loved ones affected by this tragic event.” He urged Georgians to have a home fire escape plan.

Authorities encourage residents to remain vigilant while cooking as it is a leading cause of home fires. Simple actions like staying in the kitchen while cooking and ensuring operational smoke alarms can help maintain safety.
