Last week, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent held a meeting with Valdis Dombrovskis, who serves as Commissioner for Economy & Productivity and Commissioner for Implementation & Simplification at the European Commission.

During their discussion, Secretary Bessent reaffirmed President Trump’s commitment to achieving a ceasefire and a lasting peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. He highlighted the importance of Europe taking a proactive role in increasing G7 economic pressure on Russia. The Secretary also stressed the need for a unified approach in response to China’s global rare earth export controls and pointed out the significance of maintaining diversified supply chains.
