Governor Gavin Newsom is set to address the implications of former President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” on California’s healthcare system. The virtual press conference will take place on Friday, June 27 at approximately 1:15 p.m., where Newsom will be joined by state healthcare and social services officials.

The bill in question threatens to eliminate coverage for up to 3.4 million Californians and proposes a reduction of at least $28.4 billion in Medicaid funding for the state. Governor Newsom will discuss these potential impacts alongside Secretary Kim Johnson of the California Health and Human Services Agency and Director Michelle Baass of the California Department of Health Care Services.

The event will be livestreamed on various platforms including the Governor’s Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube pages. It will also be accessible to TV stations via LiveU Matrix under “California Governor.” Media personnel wishing to participate in the Q&A session must RSVP by 12:30 p.m. on June 27.
