Governor Gavin Newsom has issued an executive order to extend protections for the survivors of the Los Angeles area firestorms against predatory real estate practices. This order, initially announced in January, aims to prevent predatory investors from making unsolicited cash offers that undervalue properties in impacted regions.

“California continues to support survivors of the Los Angeles area firestorms – especially ones vulnerable to those seeking to take advantage of communities that have already experienced devastating loss. We will continue working to protect and assist the people of Los Angeles as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives,” stated Governor Newsom.

The extension is set to last until July 1, 2025, providing firestorm survivors with continued protection as they work to rebuild their communities.
