Newsom and CAL FIRE to unveil expansion of state aerial firefighting fleet

Governor Gavin Newsom is scheduled to join CAL FIRE at a press conference on July 31 to announce new additions to California’s aerial firefighting fleet. The event will take place in Sacramento County at approximately 1 p.m.

The Governor’s office has stated that these latest resources will expand what is described as the world’s largest aerial firefighting fleet. The announcement comes as California continues efforts to strengthen its wildfire response capabilities.

The press conference will be livestreamed on the Governor’s Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube pages. It will also be available for TV stations through the LiveU Matrix under “California Governor.” Attendance is limited to credentialed media who RSVP by 11 a.m. on July 31; location details will be shared after confirmation.
