The National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP) has released a new Healthcare Tax Credit Resource Kit. This toolkit aims to help families, insurance professionals, and policymakers understand a significant aspect of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Enhanced premium tax credits have been reducing health insurance premiums since 2021, but these savings are set to expire at the end of this year unless Congress intervenes. Without action, many families could see their premiums double, potentially exceeding $2,000 monthly.

The toolkit provides clear explanations of healthcare tax credits and who benefits from them. It includes fact sheets and graphics to illustrate the impact on families and communities. Messaging templates are also available for agents, brokers, and benefits specialists to use in outreach efforts. Background materials emphasize the consequences if Congress does not extend these credits.

Divided into two sections, the kit offers resources for both consumers and industry members. Consumer Resources include templates for communicating with healthcare consumers about changes to tax credits and encouraging them to contact elected officials. Member and Industry Resources provide materials for NABIP members and partners to alert colleagues about the importance of extending these credits.

Jessica Brooks-Woods, CEO of NABIP, said: “Families risk losing the coverage they count on. If Congress fails to act, premiums will skyrocket, and millions will struggle to afford care. This toolkit gives agents, brokers, and communities the resources to make the case for extending these critical healthcare tax credits.”

The Healthcare Tax Credit Resource Kit can be accessed at https://nabip.org/chapter-resources/media-tools/aptcresource-kit. NABIP acknowledges its Individual Working Group for developing this resource aimed at urging Congress to extend healthcare tax credits before their expiration.
