MetLife Investment Management (MIM), the institutional asset management business of MetLife, Inc., announced on April 9 that it originated about $26 billion in private fixed income transactions for clients in 2025. This brought MIM’s total assets under management on its private fixed income platform to $144.7 billion as of December 31, 2025.

The announcement highlights the scale and diversity of MIM’s private fixed income platform, which includes private corporate and infrastructure debt, asset-based finance, residential whole loans, single family rental financing, and sustainable and transition finance. The origination was spread across several sectors: $8.9 billion in residential credit, $6.8 billion in corporate debt, $5.7 billion in infrastructure debt, and $4.5 billion in asset-based finance transactions.

Geert Henckens, global head of Private Fixed Income at MIM said: “As a leading originator in the rapidly expanding world of private fixed income, MIM’s rigorous credit underwriting and disciplined structuring approach enables us to consistently generate high-quality private assets with appealing relative value.” Henckens added: “We aim to invest private capital in sectors and regions where the demand for patient capital is high and seek investment opportunities that fit our clients’ risk profile and goals.”

According to the company statement, more than half of its infrastructure investments were made internationally during this period. In addition to strong activity across all areas of its platform throughout 2025, MIM acquired PineBridge Investments (PineBridge) in December that year. The acquisition combined MIM’s institutional strength with PineBridge’s global reach; together they manage a total of $741.7 billion as of December 31, 2025.

MIM is described as a top-25 global institutional investment manager by assets under management and holds leading positions managing both insurance general accounts for third parties as well as being ranked the largest infrastructure debt investment manager worldwide based on assets under management.
