Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a series of bills into law, impacting various sectors across California. The new legislation includes AB 78 by Assemblymember Phillip Chen, addressing attorney’s fees related to book accounts, and AB 223 by Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco concerning jury selection processes.

Other notable bills signed include AB 233 by Assemblymember Mike Gipson, which pertains to alcoholic beverage licensees, and AB 313 by Assemblymember Liz Ortega, extending application deadlines for student financial aid. Additionally, AB 354 and AB 369 both authored by Assemblymember Michelle Rodriguez focus on peace officer standards and emergency services liability respectively.

In the realm of technology and public records, AB 370 by Assemblymember Juan Carrillo addresses cyberattacks under the California Public Records Act. Health care districts will also see changes with AB 533 by Assemblymember Heath Flora introducing a design-build process.
