Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a statement following the death of Marysville Police Department Officer Osmar Rodarte. “Our thoughts are with the Marysville community and Officer Rodarte’s family as we mourn his sudden and tragic loss. His service and dedication to the safety of the community will never be forgotten,” Newsom said.

Officer Rodarte was shot on March 26, 2025, while responding to a multi-agency search warrant in Olivehurst. He later succumbed to his injuries. Prior to joining the Marysville Police Department two years ago, he served as a U.S. Army veteran.

In tribute to Officer Rodarte, flags at the State Capitol and Capitol Annex Swing Space will be flown at half-staff. He is survived by his children.
