Governor Gavin Newsom has responded to President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at dismantling the U.S. Department of Education. In a statement issued from Sacramento, Newsom criticized the move, questioning its implications for the balance of power in government.

“This overreach needs to be rejected immediately by a co-equal branch of government. Or was Congress eliminated by this executive order, too?” Governor Gavin Newsom stated.
