Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a special election for Assembly District 63, scheduled for August 26, 2025. This election will fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Assembly Member Bill Essayli.

Governor Newsom’s proclamation states: “I, GAVIN NEWSOM, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim and order the following that a special election shall be held on the 26th day of August 2025, within the 63rd Assembly District of the State, to fill the vacancy in the office of State Assembly Member from that district resulting from the resignation of Assembly Member Bill Essayli.”

The announcement includes the official endorsement of Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., as she attests to the Governor’s proclamation.

This special election is an important event for the constituents of Assembly District 63, as they prepare to elect a new representative.
