Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a total of $200,000 in rewards divided into four $50,000 rewards for information leading to arrests in unsolved cases across California counties. The cases involved are in San Mateo, San Diego, Kings, and Sonoma.

In San Mateo County, a $50,000 reward is being offered in connection with the attempted murder of a Hillsborough police officer. The officer was ambushed and shot on February 22, 2025, at the Hillsborough Police Department. Individuals with information are urged to contact Corporal Josh Wang at 650-375-7470. Anonymity is ensured through the police department’s tips email.

A similar reward is offered in San Diego County for information on the murder of 22-year-old Corneilius Brown, who was shot on April 24, 2021, in La Mesa. Detective Royce Culp can be contacted at 619-667-7533. Anonymous tips can be submitted to San Diego County Crime Stoppers.

In Kings County, a $50,000 reward is announced for details concerning the murder of 52-year-old Scott Jeff, who was fatally shot on March 25, 2022, on the Santa Rosa Rancheria reservation in Lemoore. Reports can be made to Sergeant Chris Martin at 559-852-2886, with anonymous submissions available via email or calling 559-852-4554.

Finally, for Sonoma County, Governor Newsom offers a $50,000 reward related to the murder of Georgia Moses, whose body was discovered near Highway 101 in 1997 after she disappeared from her home in Petaluma. Tips can be directed to the Sonoma County Cold Case Unit by email or by calling 707-565-2727; tips can also be submitted anonymously to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Under California law, rewards can encourage public assistance in unsolved cases where all investigative leads are exhausted. The Governor’s rewards aim to encourage potential witnesses to come forward, playing a pivotal role in aiding law enforcement efforts.
