Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a series of appointments to various boards and committees across California.

Gena Castro Rodriguez, from Daly City, has been appointed to the Board of State and Community Corrections. She is the owner of Castro Rodriguez Consulting and an Assistant Professor at the University of San Francisco. Her past roles include Executive Director at the National Alliance for Trauma Recovery Centers and Director of Survivor Policy at the Prosecutors Alliance. This appointment requires Senate confirmation.

Joshua Yang, based in Huntington Beach, will join the Tobacco Education and Research Oversight Committee. Yang is a professor at California State University, Fullerton, with previous experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UC San Francisco’s Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education.

Katie Nair from Roseville has been named to the Board of Registered Nursing. She currently serves as Senior Director of Nursing Operations at Sutter Health. Her role does not require Senate confirmation.

Jovita Dominguez from Castroville has been reappointed to the Board of Registered Nursing, where she has served since 2021. Dominguez works as a Staff Nurse III at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

John Russell from El Dorado Hills joins the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. He holds an executive position in operations at Sutter Health.

John Bolton from Huntington Beach will serve on the Private Security Disciplinary Review Committee South. He leads Bolton Security Group and previously held positions with the Federal Air Marshal Service and United States Secret Service.

Lastly, Jeffrey Dodd from Napa is appointed to the 25th District Agricultural Association Napa Town & Country Fair Board. He is a partner at Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass LLP.

These appointments reflect Governor Newsom’s ongoing efforts to fill key roles within state governance structures.
