Governor Newsom announces new appointments to key state departments

Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a series of appointments to various state departments and boards. Jennifer Osborn from Orangevale will serve as the Director at the California Department of Industrial Relations. Her previous roles include Chief Deputy Director at the California Department of General Services since 2021, and she has extensive experience in fiscal policy and administration.

Gentian Droboniku, based in Sacramento, has been appointed Chief Deputy Director of the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. He brings experience as a Research Data Manager within the same department since 2019 and holds an academic position as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at USC’s Price School of Public Policy.

Sean Connelly, also from Sacramento, is named Assistant Secretary for the Office of Public and Employee Communications at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Connelly previously served as Chief of Staff in Assemblymember Jessica Caloza’s office.

Melissa Bacon takes on the role of Deputy Director at the Office of Legislative and Governmental Affairs within the California Department of Health Care Services. She has been with this department since 2016 in various capacities.

Dr. C. Mike Tomlinson from Thousand Oaks joins the California Veterinary Medical Board. He is currently a veterinarian at Tomlinson Equine and holds leadership positions in several companies.

These appointments reflect Governor Newsom’s ongoing efforts to fill key positions with experienced professionals across different sectors.
