U.S. Representative John Garamendi participated in a May Day rally organized by Indivisible at his district office in Fairfield, California. The event aimed to express opposition to President Trump’s policies.

In a statement, Garamendi said, “I said from the beginning of Donald Trump’s presidency that we need to take to the streets and resist every action from his Administration. Today, we did just that.”

Garamendi expressed pride in standing with constituents against what he described as “Trump’s dangerous and unconstitutional actions.” He thanked Indivisible for collaborating with him and his staff on the demonstration. “We have been in close contact with the organizers,” he noted, adding that his office welcomed them with refreshments.

He also mentioned flying back to California after congressional votes to join the rally. Garamendi highlighted his ongoing efforts in Congress against the Trump administration’s agenda, stating he introduced amendments and voted against Trump’s budget reconciliation bill. This bill, according to him, funds tax cuts for billionaires by reducing critical services like Medicaid and Social Security.

Garamendi praised Indivisible and rally participants for their activism: “Indivisible and the rallygoers are doing exactly what we all need to do – stand up and make our voices heard.” He pledged continued support for citizens opposing policy changes under Trump.

Representative Garamendi remains committed to defending vital programs and opposing initiatives that threaten constitutional values or harm working families’ interests.
