Governor Gavin Newsom has announced the arrival of 72 firefighters and emergency personnel from Mexico to assist in combating the ongoing fires in Los Angeles. This international support comes from Mexico’s National Forestry Commission and Ministry of Defense, bolstering the existing response efforts.
The governor expressed gratitude for this cross-border assistance, stating, “Emergencies have no borders – we are deeply grateful to our neighbors in Mexico for their unwavering support during one of our greatest times of need. Thank you to President Claudia Sheinbaum for lending the best of the best.”
These Mexican firefighters will join handcrews working alongside California’s 14,000-strong team of firefighters, guard service members, highway patrol officers, and transportation teams currently engaged in firefighting operations.
