Erie Insurance’s Future Focus internship program has been named one of the top 50 internship programs in the insurance industry by Rising Insurance Star Executive (RISE) for the fifth consecutive year. The recognition highlights ERIE’s ongoing efforts to develop talent and introduce college students to careers in insurance.

The Future Focus summer internship program, which has been running for over 20 years, offers paid positions to college students. Interns gain business experience at a Fortune 500 company and have opportunities to explore various career paths within the insurance sector.

“We are honored our Future Focus Internship Program is once again on the RISE Elite 50 Internships list,” said JR Wilwohl, talent acquisition partner and ERIE’s internship program coordinator. “We strive to provide our interns with the best possible experience each year, and it’s gratifying to receive a commendation like this.”

The program attracts students from diverse academic backgrounds, including Finance, IT, Claims, Marketing, Risk Control, and Law. Many current Erie Insurance employees began their careers through this internship initiative.

Garrett Hannah, a 2025 Sourcing and Vendor Management intern majoring in Economics at PennWest University Edinboro, shared his experience: “ERIE’s internship allowed me to take part in meaningful work and projects. The internship was very engaging, prioritized our experience and showcased the best of ERIE. My time as an intern at ERIE was invaluable and set me up for success after graduation.”

Ximena Munoz, a 2025 Claims intern in the Wisconsin Branch and student at Alverno College, highlighted the mentorship provided: “Everyone in the ERIE Family, from the Wisconsin Branch to the Home Office, was very supportive and took time to mentor and guide our class to succeed. It was a valuable opportunity to develop my knowledge, gain confidence and build professional connections.”

In 2025, nearly 100 interns from 39 colleges and universities participated in ERIE’s program across multiple departments such as Marketing, IT, Law, and Risk Control.
