Cali Chandiramani, a partner at Goldberg Segalla’s Employment and Labor practice group, attributes her success to her ability to make people feel comfortable. “I think my superpower is making people feel comfortable and that is applicable in everyday practice,” said Cali, based in the firm’s Manhattan office. Her interest in law was influenced by her family of entrepreneurs and business owners.

After completing law school at Villanova University, she initially practiced maritime law in New York City before transitioning to employment law. This move solidified her career path and eventually led her to join Goldberg Segalla. “The stars aligned,” she said about the opportunity.

Cali now represents various clients in cases involving discrimination, harassment, and other employment issues across New York and New Jersey. She also advises clients on risk mitigation strategies. “I like guiding companies, helping them to avoid pitfalls,” she stated.

Her ability to connect emotionally with clients is crucial during litigation. “There’s always a personal or emotional aspect to it,” she explained. At Goldberg Segalla, the collaborative environment enhances client service. “The lawyers at Goldberg Segalla truly help each other,” noted Cali.

Reflecting on her career choice, Cali mentioned that being needed motivates her work: “Your clients are relying on you. Your colleagues are relying on you.” Her early love for reading, writing, and fairness guided her toward becoming a lawyer—a decision supported by her parents who recognized her communication skills from a young age.
