The Colorado Division of Insurance has announced the adoption of Bulletin B-5.55, which addresses insurer practices following the 2025 floods in Pagosa Springs and other parts of southern Colorado. The bulletin was adopted by the Commissioner and is effective as of October 31, 2025.

According to the Division, insurers are encouraged to consider specific guidance when communicating with policyholders affected by the recent flooding events, regardless of whether those individuals have flood insurance coverage.

The Division stated: “In the wake of the recent floods in Pagosa Springs and throughout southern Colorado, the Division would like insurers to consider the following when communicating with their insureds, regardless of whether the insured has flood insurance coverage.”
