Chubb names Scott Henck global chief actuary; Cynthia Bentley promoted in North America

Chubb Limited has announced the appointment of Scott Henck as Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Chief Actuary, effective April 1. Henck, who currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary for North America, will take over from Paul O’Connell, who is retiring after a four-decade career in the property and casualty insurance sector.

In his new position, Henck will be responsible for all actuarial functions at Chubb, including reserving, pricing, and capital performance measurement. He will report to Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chubb Limited and Chubb Group, as well as Peter Enns, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and Chief Financial Officer.

Cynthia Bentley will step into Henck’s previous role as Executive Vice President, North America Chief Actuary. Bentley is currently Senior Vice President and Head Actuary of North America Commercial Insurance. She will report to Henck and Juan Luis Ortega, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President, North America Insurance.

Henck joined Chubb in 2002. He most recently served as Chief Actuary for North America since 2019. His previous roles include founding the Actuarial Insights, Business Intelligence, and Advanced Analytics unit for Global Claims. Henck holds credentials as a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), and is a graduate of Lebanon Valley College.

Bentley brings more than thirty years’ experience in insurance and actuarial roles. Before her current position she led Major Accounts Actuarial support for Property & Specialty as well as Financial Lines. She is a graduate of Bucknell University and a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
