California officials are taking steps to prepare for critical fire weather conditions forecasted for Plumas, Nevada, and Sierra counties from July 30 through July 31, 2025. Governor Gavin Newsom has approved the pre-deployment of firefighting resources in these areas.

“This proactive approach has proven to be a critical component of California’s wildfire response strategy, reducing response times and containing fires before they escalate. Residents should be prepared and listen to local authorities.” Governor Gavin Newsom said.

The state has stationed 14 fire engines, four water tenders, and two dispatchers across the three counties. This measure is intended to ensure rapid response capability and limit the potential impact of any new wildfires.

This move follows recent resource prepositioning efforts in the same region during late July as part of ongoing readiness activities. The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) urges residents to remain alert during this period of increased fire risk. Officials recommend that people develop a wildfire action plan that includes evacuation routes and assembling an emergency go-bag with necessary supplies. Residents are also encouraged to sign up for local emergency alerts to stay informed about evolving conditions.
